Good News For Elaine

Elaine has been making the scene - she's been to a number of adoption events in Northern VA and DC and a star at the meet and greets at Dog Paws University in Arlington. All that "clubbing" has paid off - Elaine's made alot of FOES (Friends of Elaine's) and most importantly, she's caught the eye of a few people who would like to take her home as their sweetheart. Fingers crossed but it seems likely that Elaine will have a new home by this weekend.

That means that she will be able to start her heartworm treatment! The injections of medicine she will receive kill the heartworms. The dead bits of heartworms, which are in her blood stream, are slowly absorbed by her body. Because increased heartrate/blood flow can increase the risk of a life threatening clot, dogs undergoing heartworm treatmetn must be keep calm with limited activity. So while Elaine was at doggie day care (boarding) she couldn't start her treatment.
